Evaluation of GG by Professor S.H. Crandall

Prof. Stephen H Crandall, from MIT, Cambridge (USA) was asked by the chairman of the Fudamental Physics Advisory Group (FPAG) of ESA to evaluate the GG project, as an expert in damping and rotordynamics.

Prof Crandall's review (dated May 29, 1997; see below) was positive for GG beyond any possible doubt, but it was discarded by the FPAG.

Letter on GG by Prof. Crandall

Prof Crandall was also asked by A.M. Nobili to analyse the GG proposed experiment. A.M. Nobili visited Prof Crandall at MIT for a few days in Ianuary 1997. Their discussion is summarized in the Note: On the stabilization of the GG system (S.H. Crandall and A.M. Nobili, January 1997)
